The Marcellus Center for Outreach and Research brings together Penn State's considerable expertise and leadership on issues related to the Marcellus Shale and other unconventional formations in the US and abroad. As such, MCOR is a valuable resource for the diverse group of stakeholders involved with or affected by exploration and production of shale energy.
MCOR explores the geology, technology, economics, business and sociology of shale formations with a goal of understanding both the resource as well as the environmental, economic and social challenges posed by their exploration and development. By leveraging the University's significant strengths in outreach and research, MCOR serves all stakeholders including local, state and federal agencies, elected officials, communities, landowners, industry, and environmental groups.
